Had a GREAT time of playing to some enthusiastic audiences at The Jazz Showcase in Chicago last week Thursday thru Sunday with my quartet featuring James Cammack on bass, Justefan on vibes and Makaya McCraven on drums. Our opening night set received an excellent review from The Chicago Tribune, and above/below are a few video excerpts from our sets. Additional footage will be posted soon.

More exciting events are on the horizon including my quartet with Joe Locke appearing at The Chicago Jazz Festival and the debut of my sextet at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center in NYC with some of my favorite East Coast musicians. To read more about these and other upcoming performances along with release info on a couple fantastic new recordings of which I’m a part, check out my summer newsletter HERE.

I am honored to be a recipient of Chamber Music America’s 2014 New Jazz Works Grant supported by The Doris Duke Foundation! The new project will feature my sextet (2 woodwinds, trumpet/flugelhorn and rhythm section) plus a string quartet. Details coming soon, so stay tuned…

Just returned from an incredibly inspiring two weeks with Sundance Institute’s Music and Sound Design Lab at Skywalker Ranch where I had the opportunity to collaborate with an amazingly talented group of artists (composers, Skywalker sound designers, engineers and staff, Sundance directors, technical advisors & editors). Huge thanks to the Sundance Institute for the opportunity!
